Amgen Bike Tour of California goes thru Milpitas Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
During last year's Amgen Tour of California, the peloton rode from Modesto to San Jose, but in 2009 they'll reverse direction and pedal from San Jose to Modesto. That means the riders will be hit hard early when just five miles into Stage 3, they'll face menacing Sierra Road (Sierra from Piedmont: 12:18-12:21 PM) (1930 feet of elevation), which has been a defining climb in previous years and is certain to inflict damage on the field once again. The racers will then speed through flat sections that twist and turn, including more than 40 switchbacks on Calaveras Road (Calaveras from Felter: 12:39-12:45 PM). SBAY Geek Ride
A monthly bicycle ride event (weather permitting) from March
to October. It takes place on the Sunday 8 days after the monthly
SBAY Pizza meetings at 3 or 4PM. While they have a 2008 event posted, they are also saying they have no one to coordinate the event, so who knows whether it will happen or not.

Western Wheelers Bicycle Club
A nonprofit organization based on the San Francisco Peninsula
(Palo Alto) that hosts a variety of rides every month to suit
cyclists of all abilities.
California Bicycle Coalition
Harnesses public and private resources to make our streets and
trails good places to ride, to educate bicyclists and motorists
regarding their respective rights and responsibilities, and to
promote competent bicycling as a safe, clean, fun and healthy
means of transportation and recreation.
Cyclists Have an Upgrade Option with VTA Bike Lockers
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) makes commuting easier for people who bike and ride with new electronic bike lockers. The new electronic bike lockers are available at the Great Mall-Main Street Light Rail Station/Transit Center.
