Event Submission to the Homeschooling Event Calendar

To add your event to the Homeschooling Events Calendar, first read the easy to qualify rules below. If still interested, email this site guide, Ann Zeise, at . It is solely up to Ann whether or not an event is posted. Late submissions may not make it. I'm not THAT fussy, but sometimes the Internet isn't cooperative. Include your name, relation to the event, and accurate email address in case of questions. Obviously incomplete or inaccurate information will not be posted.

Banner Advertising

Starting in 2001, A to Z Home's Cool will offer a limited number of paid banner advertisements on the calendar and other pages. An introductory price of $250 per page per year is offered for the first 10 advertisers. ($350 for directory pages. Events Calendar - $25/month) Acceptable advertisers would be those who currently market to the homeschool population for such things as conferences and other events, educational materials, distance learning programs and tutorials services for K-12 students, even other homeschool websites.

Banners should be standard 468 x 60 pixels. Also supply the URL of the page that gives further information about your event or product.

Total cost of the run must be paid in full by the start of the advertising and is non-refundable. The banner, however, may be replaced as often as weekly for a $25 fee.

A to Z Home's Cool and GoMilpitas pages had over 148,000 unique visitors in August 2001. I expect that it will see its 1.5 millionth visitor in September since this counter was set a little over 2 years ago. A to Home's Cool gets approximately 90% of the domain visitors.

General Parameters for a Free Listing

  • The event is being held as a homeschooling community event, not as a commercial event nor general interest event;
  • It is of interest to a good number of people in the homeschooling community, not just those in the organization holding the event;
  • The event features at least one homeschool author, parent or student;
  • The event is most likely sponsored by a homeschooling association, support group, distance learning program or cover school, or similar organization that caters primarily to homeschoolers;
  • Admission to the event is self-selecting and must be open at least to any interested potential homeschooler or homeschooling family reading this calendar and willing to pay the stated fees, if any;
  • If the event is primarily for children, you may limit it to homeschoolers only;
  • The event may be as small as a local information gathering or as large as an international convention.

Minimum information needed

  • Event Description (Geographic 2-Letter Abbreviation; Full title of event; Sponsor name if not part of event title (70 Character limit.)
  • Event Information - Put extensive information here. Include sponsoring group, if not part of title already, and contact information. Please state if children are welcome or not. [If you provide a URL to your conference page, full information will not be necessary. If you require that I create and post a page for you, there will be a flat charge of $125. Please publicize this page's URL in your conference publicity and material. Provide me with a copy of this material.]
  • Date or dates of event.
  • Time starting (and ending, if relevant.) Local time is assumed. If NOT local time, say, for example, a net event, please state as ET - eastern time zone.
  • Contact information: name, address, phone number, email.
  • Note: this information will also be placed on the state homeschooling page where the event will be held. If you strongly feel that the posting should also be on another page, please state your case. Consider banner advertising on those other pages.

Optional additional web-type material

  • A link (URL) to the exact web page that gives more information about the event or its sponsors. Please also describe what is at the link.
  • HTML formated information for a separate page. One graphic OK. (A page formatted similar to this page would be fine.) Include in body of the email, or as a separte html-formated file. Publicize the page I post here, and send me proof that you have publicized the URL. Homeschool groups may have the page they create for $50; if I create it; $125. Commericial organizations may have a co-branded page for $300 (You create. I create: $500)
