- Finally! A textbook that wont bore kids! This fun, easy-to-read
journal follows a familys trip across Canada. Its filled with
facts as presented in the running commentary of a 12-year-old
boy, Guy. The family travels to every province and territory
in Canada, beginning in British Columbia. Guy suspects the trip
is supposed to be educational because, as he says, My mom used
to be a teacher and she cant always turn it off.

Family in 1840
by Barbara Greenwood, Heather Collins (Illustrator)
- Greenwood blends fiction and fact to provide the reader with
a full picture of mid-nineteenth-century pioneer life. A narrative
begins each section and is followed by information about the
work the fictitious Robertson family members are engaged in and
a project for the reader to try. The illustrations are clear
and useful.

Options in British Columbia
We offer information about home-based, public or independent
school enrollment options as a public service and to help clarify
the difference between home-based learning options currently
available in BC.
Distance
Education and Online Learning
Distance education is an alternative to classroom-based instruction
for kindergarten to grade 12 students. It can be delivered using
paper-based print material as in a traditional correspondence
course and/or electronic delivery.
Distributed
Learning and Homeschooling
Students enrolled in a public or independent school distributed
learning program and children who are registered as homeschooled
by their parents have different legal definitions, rights and
responsibilities under the School Act or Independent
School Act.
Foundation
Skills Assessment
This is a letter received from the Ministry of Education on the
new Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA). It is not a required
test for home educated learners; we still have freedom in the
area of testing.
Home-schooling
Statistics 
Numbers of registered home-schooled students since the 1989/90
school year to the present, including grants issued to registering
schools.

PRINCE GEORGE
Prince George Home Educators' Association
The site is geared for Prince George and area home educators,
but it may be of some use to those beyond our local geography
as well. We're hoping that it will be used as a reference
tool for those new to home education and also to those that are
more experienced.

Christian Home Educators Association of Richmond
A Christian homeschool co-operative that provides learning experiences for the children through parent-participation.
North Shore Home Learners Group
The families in our homeschool group come from all over the North
Shore, as well as Burnaby and Vancouver. The NSHLG is run by
volunteers -- parents with ideas or those who just like to get
involved.
Vancouver Homelearners Network
Our families embrace all different styles of home learning hail
from Vancouver, Burnaby, the Tri-cities Richmond, and beyond.
We are a lose network of homelearning parents that make activities
happen ourselves and other homelearning families. Come and meet,

VANCOUVER ISLAND
District 69 email list
You can "meet" other parents, often homeschoolers,
who are very involved with their kids' education. This is a local
list for the Parksville Qualicum (District 69) area of Vancouver
Island (and neighbouring communities).
Nanaimo Community Home Learners
