Michigan Home School Families Under Attack - Posted 03/27/08
After 12 years of relative peace for home schoolers in Michigan, 24 Democrats have cosponsored HB5912 that will force new reporting requirements on home school families. According to the language of the bill, the right to home school will "exist only if the child's attendance is appropriately reported to public school officials." The bill requires parents to report the names, ages and address of all their homeschooled children at the beginning of each school year to their local school district or intermediate school district.

Urgent Call to Action: Michigan Homeschoolers!
2008 House Bill 5912. Introduced by Rep. Brenda Clack on March 19, 2008, would require the parents of children who are homeschooled to submit the local school intermediate school district at the beginning of each year the name and age of each child who is being educated in the home, and the name and address of each parent or legal guardian.

Legislative Action Network
Enter your Michigan zip code here, identify your representative, and send them a message about HB5912 right now! In my state it really helped when Democrats who homeschool contacted their Democrat representatives and explained that Democrats homeschool, too, and don't want more regulation.
